Well, friends, it's that time of year again! The frosty winter air is crisp with anticipation, a warm fire crackles in the hearth, hot cocoa simmers on the stove and the stockings are hung by the chimney with care. Gaily wrapped presents are nestled under the tree, waiting to be torn open by eager hands on Christmas morn! Christmas is just around the corner!!
SKRE-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E! *insert record needle scratch sound effect here*
No, wait! That's not right! It's only November 2nd! I'm delusional! I'm only thinking that Christmas is "right around the corner" because as I was grocery shopping in the Wal Mart Neighborhood Market this afternoon, I found myself listening to CHRISTMAS CAROLS the entire time I was in the store. Never mind the fact that Christmas is almost two whole months away. Never mind the fact that it was almost 80 degrees outside and I was wearing shorts, a tee shirt and flip flops. I had to listen to Christmas carols.
Now, don't get me wrong.
I. Adore. Christmas. Carols. There is nothing I love more than breaking out the Christmas CD's and practically wearing them out during the season! It just seems a little....early. Heck, I've still got a green ring around my bathtub from washing off Declan's Incredible Hulk make-up from Halloween and they're wanting me to start baking Christmas cookies and singing Jingle Bells! It's nuts! Completely and utterly nuts and it bugs me because I don't want to be tired of Christmas carols before December even rolls around!
OK, now on a less cranky, ranting-and-raving note, but, oddly enough, is still related to Christmas, I want you to meet our newest family member:
This is Neko Ashi Dachi (pronounced Nee-ko Ash-ee Dah-chee), Neko for short, and he is a sable-colored, nine-week old tiny toy poodle that we were NOT planning on buying. However, when Troy's sister called us and offered us a really great deal on this puppy that she had purchased because SHE got suckered into buying TWO puppies when she only intended on buying ONE puppy (Aaaah, the Vortex of Cute Puppies! Betcha can't buy just one!) we just simply could not say no. I have wanted another lap dog ever since Joey died. I thought I'd get over the desire, but it's not really passed, and we just decided that Neko would be our Christmas present to one another!
So MERRY CHRISTMAS TO US!
This is Supey, meeting Neko for the first time. Supey is getting used to Neko trying to play with him, and I really think that, eventually, they will have a ball together, especially once Neko gets some heft to him. Right now, Supey could just bat him through the wall because he only weighs about a pound and a half or something!
Here he is, tuckered out after a big round of playing hard. I think he's dreaming about baseball. SAFE! Or maybe conducting a symphony?
