Things I've Learned About Myself Over the Last Week

(Have you noticed that my titles are getting longer? I have. I don't know why...one of life's little mysteries, I guess.)

  • I've learned that I would be a really horrible contestant on Survivor. All that fetching water and boiling it for drinking and scrubbing pans with sand? Not for me. I'd probably die in the first day or two, before they even had a chance to vote me off the island.
  • I've learned that, no matter how much soap you use, you can't get melted chocolate off of a plastic cutting board with cold water. It will, in fact, stick tighter than glue.
  • I've also learned that washing dishes in cold water, with dishsoap, then putting them into the dishwasher and washing them in cold water won't clean the dishes properly. In fact, it won't dissolve the soap at all, leaving you with a wonderful streak of crusty soap on the inside of the dishwasher door.

In case you haven't guessed, our hot water tank went out last Tuesday, leaving us without hot water until yesterday when Troy installed a new one. I'm always amazed at his handyness! *heart goes pitter pat*

Reilly is finally better, after an entire week of fever and two trips to the doctor. I think we've watched every movie in our entire movie arsenal, including some of the classics. Reilly's newest favorite movie is "Oklahoma!". I'm glad that she enjoys movies where the characters burst into song and dance at any given moment. ("Oklahoma!" has particularly long dance numbers in it!) I'm glad she's better, although I think she's going to be in for a big shock when we get back into our school routine next week. I need to start praying now that the "transition" will go well!

So, it's back to normal at our house! Hot showers, clean dishes, children without fevers...what more could I ask for?

You poor baby. I've been there and have heated water on the stove for dishwashing. I HATE washing dishes in cold water. Ugh.

I think you're probably right about the greyhound. Kathie and I were talking earlier in the week about her getting Joseph, the mastiff, several years ago and it was because of the passing of their greyhound. Her husband, John, ran out that day and got the mastiff puppy.

Glad to know you are all feeling a little better. We are fighting off all kinds of diseases over here. Good luck with getting back to school

"Oklahoma" was my favorite movie when I was Reilly's age. I wore that VHS out!
