What a Christmas!!
The stocking were hung with care last night, then emptied this morning with much excitement.
The presents were stacked neatly, then later demolished amidst flying bits of paper and more squeals and exclamations. I will say, however, that we are NOT a family that allows complete and utter chaos with present opening. There is no mad dash to the tree with children ripping into presents willy-nilly! No sirree! We take turns and watch each other open the gifts, which allows for the fun to last even a smidge longer.
We went to my mom's house and celebrated there with she and my brother - more controlled-demolishing and squeals of glee. Lots of turkey and mashed potatoes and fruit salad and spinach casserole and pie. The afternoon ended with an impromptu rendition of "Poor Judd is Dead" performed by a cowboy finger puppet singing lead with five Russian wooden finger puppets singing backup...puppeted by my brother. Oh, of all the times for me to not have my video camera ready! I laughed so hard I thought I was going to bust a gut and spew turkey all over the livingroom!
So, now the house is quiet again. Reilly is sleeping in her gorgeous new nightgown that she got from Nani K., and her Kirsten doll is snuggled up next to her in the matching gown. Deco is tucked in in his Red Power Rangers suit, ready to defend his family from the forces of darkness at a moments notice. I've just polished off about two dozen cream cheese cookies, so I'm feeling a little bit nauseous...but I'll be alright as soon as I go to bed.
Merry Christmas, everyone. As Reilly and Declan both said to us today, "I didn't have a good Christmas....I had a GREAT Christmas!"
